The Wild Coast
Coastal walking and tide tables
“On the Wild Coast the path is the beach. Check the tide.”
Walks the coast from Port St Johns every spring. Fluent in tide tables.

The story

I grew up in East London and spent my twenties surfing the Wild Coast whenever I could get away. The walking started as a way to reach breaks with no road. Eight springs ago I did the whole stretch from Port St Johns to Coffee Bay on foot, village to village, and I have gone back every year since, mostly with the same families looking after us. The Wild Coast on Foot is the honest version of that walk: real days, real hills, the sea on your left all week.
How they travel
I time each day around the tides and the heat, and I never walk the group faster than the slowest person wants to go. The vehicle is always one bay ahead with the bags.
